Rust’s World Update 2.0 brings a fresh look to the game’s environment. The new cliffs and rock formations are more realistic and easier to climb, while rivers are now longer and flow more naturally. There are also cool new areas like canyons, lakes, and oases, adding more variety to the landscape.

For combat, the High Caliber Revolver is here—perfect for long-range shots—and Radtown, a classic monument, is back with a new design.

What’s New in Rust’s World?

Cliffs

The update enhances cliffs across Rust’s maps, both along the coasts and inland. The new cliffs look more natural, with some even showing up offshore, making for strategic base-building spots.

Rock Formations

Players will notice revamped rock formations, including updates to classic favorites like the God Rock. These rocks add realism and offer new spots for shelter or base-building.

Canyons

Canyons now appear on the map, offering narrow pathways perfect for ambushes and tactical advantage.

Lakes & Oases

Freshwater lakes and desert oases are new environments to explore. These areas provide valuable resources and cool spots for setting up a base.

Rivers

Rivers are longer, more natural, and flow dynamically, with better transitions from rivers to oceans. Water systems now have distinct types at different altitudes.

New Weapon: High Caliber Revolver

A brand-new weapon joins the arsenal! The High Caliber Revolver is a powerful, long-range gun that uses 5.56 ammo. It’s designed for precision and slower shooting, rewarding careful aim.

Radtown Returns

Radtown, a classic monument from Rust's earlier versions, makes its return. With a reimagined design, this area will offer exciting looting and combat opportunities while maintaining its nostalgic charm.

Quality of Life Improvements

Rust’s quality of life updates ensure a more seamless experience for players with the following key changes:

  • Spray Can Improvements: The spray can now remembers the color of shipping containers even through player deaths and restarts, making customization easier to manage.
  • Note World Model: The update adds a physical world model for notes, improving immersion and interaction with in-game written content
  • Underwater Visibility: Players can now see better underwater, with long-distance visibility improved. This helps for underwater exploration and combat, making diving less of a blind risk.
  • Repair Bench Improvements: The repair bench now shows icons next to text for repair costs, making it easier to quickly assess what’s needed for repairs.

Other Additions

The latest Rust World Update comes with plenty of exciting new features and tweaks beyond the world improvements:

  • Legacy Woodpile: Wood piles are back! Found in snowy and temperate biomes, these can be harvested like ore piles with tools such as a hatchet or chainsaw.
  • Dive Sites: Dive sites have been refreshed, and floating bottle indicators are now solid buoys for easier spotting. Each dive site includes new environment art and holds 6 loot crates.
  • Flora and Fauna: Underwater environments now feature improved plant life and fish behavior, making the underwater experience more dynamic.
  • Diver Propulsion Vehicle (DPV): A new handheld dive vehicle can now be crafted and used for faster underwater travel.
  • Water Well Update: Water wells now have new vendors offering teas and farming equipment. These NPC vendors can be killed, though there’s little to no reward for doing so.
  • Radioactive Water: A new gameplay element—radioactive water—has been introduced in certain areas of the map. This water has harmful effects when used on plants or players and can be collected using regular water containers.
  • Frontiersman Pack: A new permanent store item, the Frontiersman Pack, includes three items: a Frontier Hazmat Suit, Blunderbuss (shotgun skin), and Frontier Hatchet (skin).
  • Wallpaper Changes: Based on player feedback, wallpapers can now be placed on building block hardsides within your base.

This update makes Rust’s world look better and run smoother, adding new landscapes, strategic points, and better performance. Jump in and check out the fresh cliffs, rivers, and more!
